Unfortunately the Spring Used Book Sale (that would have been held beginning on April 22nd), could not take place due to the quarantine. We greatly miss being able to see our patrons and talk about all of their exciting book purchases, and the ways those purchases help The City Library.

Our used book sales are our biggest fundraisers, typically bringing in $25K or more during the four-day sale. All of that money goes to help fund programming and services in The City Library system that we love so dearly. How much do you typically spend at the Spring Used Book Sale? $25? $50? More? (If you’re like me, it’s a lot more!) Whatever the amount,
please consider making a donation to The Friends of The City Library.

Even during this unprecedented time, The City Library is there for Salt Lake City with a large collection of digital services. Your donation to the Friends of the City Library will help fund services like these.

Are you still accepting book donations?

Yes we are. You can drop off donations at the Main Library from Noon to 6pm, Monday through Saturday. Park in the short-term Delivery Loading Zone on 200 East just south of 400 South and call 801-594-8618.

Staff will verify your location, vehicle description, and quantity of items you’re donating. Please open the trunk (remotely if possible) or car door where the materials are located, then remain in your car. Staff will arrive with bins to pick up the donations and will leave a receipt in the trunk or on the seat of the vehicle.

Will the book sale happen this (calendar) year? Perhaps a “late Spring” sometime this month?

Yes, we do have a couple coming up. Visit our events calendar to see the upcoming book sales.
